    Making job-sharing work for everyone

    PEOPLE

The flexibility policies Scentre Group introduced during 2015 opened the door for a number of new workplace practices that could help create an extraordinary workplace for staff and benefit the business by helping retain the best talent.

At Westfield Parramatta, the role of senior marketing manager is shared by two working mums who are experienced employees of Scentre Group.

“We definitely jumped at the opportunity to showcase that you can job share a role at an operational centre and make it really work as long as you are both really committed,” said Anita Tasevski, one of the two senior marketing managers, when the idea was first presented as a possibility. Colleague Elena Petroska agreed, saying:

“The benefit was very much about allowing Anita and I to step back and have a chat about what would work for us so we were really able to shape what that role looks like.”

With full organisational support from Scentre Group, the women’s direct manager helped guide them in developing the role while ensuring they were both able to continue meeting their individual personal career objectives.

In the meantime, the role itself has been able to benefit from complementary management styles and the benefits that can come from two colleagues working closely together and sharing their brain power!
