Scentre Group maintains a development pipeline in excess of $3 billion, and in 2015 completed $825 million worth of projects, each of which yielded construction waste material with potential for recycling and reduction in waste-to-landfill.
The addition of a rooftop food and entertainment precinct at Westfield Hurstville was an opportunity to demonstrate the Group’s commitment to environmental sustainability. The rooftop pavilion pergola and awning surrounding casual dining outlets was constructed from around 3.5 tonnes of recycled hardwood timber that originated from pre-existing hardwood bridges that was salvaged and repurposed.
