Two centres that underwent major redevelopments during the year donated their existing children’s play equipment to community groups.
The donations provided both community groups with much-needed equipment and by repurposing the equipment, and prevented it from going to landfill.
Westfield Hurstville’s equipment went to a local church while Westfield Kotara’s Playworld went to its local charity partner ASPECT, an autism school.
In both cases the centre teams engaged with suppliers and risk management to ensure the integrity of the equipment before sharing with the community.
