A redevelopment at Westfield Hurstville facilitated numerous changes in the centre’s operations including some significant amendments to the retailer waste disposal processes.
The physical constraints of one of the centre’s major docks created inefficiencies that included illegally parked cars on a regular basis, and obvious hurdles to increasing recycling volumes due to unclear signage and directional instructions.
An overhaul of the centre docks included new signage and directional messaging to the compactus, comingle bins, plastic bins and other waste infrastructure showed a significant improvement in back-of-house traffic management and waste disposal.
The dock demarcation initiative has also resulted in more efficient access and safer product delivery, benefitting all stakeholders.
